2014-15: Scored 51 points in 72 games for the Edmonton Oil Kings this season (12-39-51) and has recorded 38 penalty minutes. The Edmonton Oil Kings captain has also appeared in 58 playoff games registering 20 points (6-14-20) and 34 penalty minutes…Signed by the Comets to a PTO on April 9, 2015.

2013-14: Member of the 2014 Memorial Cup winning Edmonton Oil Kings…Won the WHL Plus-Minus Award with a +59 rating…Scored eight goals and 34 assists in 72 games.

2012-13: Sautner attended the Minnesota Wild’s prospect camp before returning to Edmonton for his second WHL season. He had almost identical numbers in his second season with the Oil Kings, scoring 2 goals with 10 assists and finishing plus-22 while racking up 28 penalty minutes in 62 games. Edmonton finished first in the Central Division and reached the WHL Finals against Portland. Sautner played in 14 of 22 playoff games, missing time after suffering an injury after blocking a shot in the opening round against Kootenay. He scored three goals in the East Conference Finals against Calgary and finished the playoffs +4 with 3 goals, 2 assists and 10 penalty minutes.

2011-12: Sautner skated in 59 games for the league champion Edmonton Oil Kings in his first WHL season. Playing on a deep defense corps that featured three NHL draftees and highly-regarded 2012-eligible Griffin Reinhart, Sautner scored 2 goals with 10 assists and was plus-29 with 38 penalty minutes. The Oil Kings finished with the WHL’s best record and rolled through the playoffs. In 19 playoff games he had 2 assists and was plus-eight with 10 penalty minutes. Sautner appeared in all four Memorial Cup games and was plus-one. The Oil Kings went 1-3 at the tournament, with their lone win coming against eventual champ Shawinigan. Sautner was ranked 92nd amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting’s final rankings prior to the 2012 NHL Draft.

2010-11: Sautner returned to Moose Jaw for a second season of midget hockey with the re-named Generals in the SMHL. Sautner tied teammate Austin Yano for the team lead in points by a defensemen (35). In 42 games he scored 12 goals with 23 assists and had 43 penalty minutes. After finishing third in the regular season, the Generals reached the playoff semifinals. In six playoff games Sautner scored 1 goal with 2 assists and had 12 penalty minutes.

2009-2010: Selected by Edmonton in the 8th round (162nd overall) of the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, Ashton Sautner played for the Moose Jaw Warriors midget AAA team in Saskatchewan.
