COMETS GRIND OUT 4-2 WIN OVER SENATORS

Utica, N.Y. – Cam Darcy scored his second game-winning goal in as many nights and Thatcher Demko made 26 saves as the Utica Comets earned their third straight win Saturday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. Jonathan Dahlen, Tanner Kero, Cam Darcy, and Brendan Gaunce all scored for Utica. Kero’s goal was his 100th career AHL point. 

Dahlen got things going with a one-time blast on the power play 3:35 into the opening frame. Michael Carcone and Evan McEneny had the assists. Kero doubled the lead with another power play goal with six minutes to go in the first. Zack MacEwen and Michael Carcone tallied the assists. The Comets held the Senators to just four shots on goal in the period as they took their 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Jordan Murray got Belleville on the board two minutes into the second period, tipping a shot past Demko. Filip Chlapik tied the game at two, redirecting a pass from Stuart Percy. Darcy put the Comets back on top three minutes later, beating Filip Gustavsson on a breakaway. Tony Cameranesi and Ashton Sautner picked up the assists.

The Comets shut down the Senators in the final frame and Gaunce scored an empty-net goal with 30 seconds to go to secure the win.

The Comets hit the ice again Wednesday night on the road at the Binghamton Senators. Puck drop at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena is at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL TV.
