HOW TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A PURPLE HEART COMETS JERSEY

HOW TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A PURPLE HEART COMETS JERSEY

Nov 8, 2018

Last week, the Utica Comets unveiled their Purple Heart military themed jerseys, which will be worn on Friday, November 9, when they face off against the Hartford Wolfpack. While planning their night, the Comets wanted to ensure that they had as many Purple Heart jerseys as possible, to both spread awareness of the night and also give fans their fair chance at owning a piece of Comets and military history. The goal for all 30 Purple Heart jerseys are to honor all Purple Heart recipients while simultaneously raising funds for the CNY Veterans Outreach Center, Chapter 490 Military Order of the Purple Heart, and Chapter 944 Vietnam Veterans of America.

If you or someone you know are interested in getting your hands on one of these once-in-a-lifetime Comets jerseys, please read and pay attention to the distribution information below.

Live Auction: 14 Jerseys

A large portion of the jerseys will be auctioned off live immediately following the game on November 9. All jerseys will be autographed, and winning bidders will be able to take a photo with the player following the sale of the jersey. The live auction will take place in Section 204.

‘Best Bid’ Auction: 5 Jerseys

Fans looking to test their luck during the game can partake in the ‘Best Bid’ auction. A select five players (who are not suiting up for the Purple Heart game, either due to being up in Vancouver or injured) will have their jerseys on display in the concourse. Fans interested in a specific jersey will write their ‘Best Bid’ – aka the most money they are willing to spend on said jersey, fold it up, and drop it in in a box corresponding to that jersey. With five minutes left in the game, bids will close, and winners will be contacted to organize pickup. The ‘Best Bid’ auction will take place behind in the concourse near the DDS Motor Sports Display (Section 205).

Purple Heart Museum Gift: 1 Jersey

The Comets plan to send a Purple Heart jersey to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, which is located in Newburgh, New York.

AHL Gift: 1 Jersey

The Comets will send one Purple Heart jersey to the American Hockey League.

Gifts for Local Veterans: 3 Jerseys

The Comets will also gift three jerseys to important local military figures and organizations who were instrumental in the Purple Heart proclamation process.

50/50 Auction Bonus: 1 Jersey

Fans who test their luck with a 50/50 ticket during Friday’s game are also eligible to win a Purple Heart jersey. The winning ticket will be drawn at the end of the second intermission and will NOT disqualify you from winning the 50/50 pot.

The remaining five jerseys will be utilized for future Save of the Day events, with all proceeds continuing to benefit the CNY Veterans Outreach Center, Chapter 490 Military Order of the Purple Heart, and Chapter 944 Vietnam Veterans of America.
