TEAM RECORDS BY THE NUMBERS

TEAM RECORDS BY THE NUMBERS

Aug 14, 2019

Even though last season ended frustratingly early for the Utica Comets, there were many milestones reached by both the team and certain individuals. A handful of those individuals remain in the organization, so there’s plenty of reason to believe many more will be broken next season as well.

Let’s take a look at some of the records by the numbers.

305- Carter Bancks skated in his 305th game as a Comet on March 16, 2019 against Hartford, passing Darren Archibald for most all time.

224- The Comets tied a team record by scoring 224 goals during the 2018-19 season. They also scored 224 goals in the 2015-16 season.

121- On October 21, 2018, Utica Comets faithful packed the Adirondack Bank Center with 3,917 fans, marking the building’s 121st sellout in a row. That mark established a new AHL record, passing the St. John’s IceCaps, whose 120 straight sellouts held the crown since 2014. The streak has grown to 155 regular season games since April 10, 2015 and 169 straight including postseason play.

107/54- In his final performance as a Utica Comet on Feb 1, 2019, Thatcher Demko made 31 saves in a win over the Syracuse Crunch. That appearance marked his 107th as a Comet and his 54th win with the franchise, both of which are records.

62- If setting the franchise-record for goals scored wasn’t enough, Boucher also tied the single-season team record with 62 points. He matched the total output of Pascal Pelletier, who racked up 20 goals and 42 assists during the Comets’ inaugural season in 2013-14.

31- After scoring a then-team-record 25 goals two seasons ago, Reid Boucher decided he would re-write the history books once again. His 31 goals scored during the 2018-19 season marked the first time a Utica Comet earned over 30 goals in a single season.

11- Tanner Kero led the team with 11 power play goals last season, tying a team record. Pelletier earned 11 of his own in ’13-’14, and Alex Grenier reached the mark a year later.

8- The Comets scored a team-record 8 goals in a dismantling of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on April 12, 2019.

7- The seven-goal margin of victory during that 8-1 win over the Penguins established a new franchise best. Seven also marked the number of fights in that game!

6- The six goals scored in the second period of that game set the single mark for most goals in a period in team history.

Which records will fall next season? There are a few that are within reach for select Comets.

19- Reid Boucher needs 19 goals to tie Darren Archibald for most in franchise history (75).

67- If Boucher can increase last year’s career high point total (62) by five, he will move into a tie with Alex Grenier for the most career points in franchise history (175).

6- Is the number of wins shy Richard Bachman is from matching Thatcher Demko for the most career goaltender wins in team history.

5- Bachman is also five appearances short of swiping the career goaltender appearance mark from Demko.

60- Entering the 2019-20 season with 540 career AHL games played, Carter Bancks can reach the 600-career game mark by appearing in 60 games this year.

15- Points needed for Zack MacEwen to reach 100 career points with the Comets. The third-year pro erupted last season with 22 goals, 30 assists, and 52 points.
