CANUCKS ACQUIRE TANNER KERO FROM CHICAGO IN EXCHANGE FOR MICHAEL CHAPUT

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have acquired centre Tanner Kero from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for centre Michael Chaput. 

Kero, 25, split the 2017.18 season between the Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs. He registered three points (1-2-3) in eight games with Chicago and 20 points (8-12-20) in 36 games with Rockford. The 6’0”, 185-pound centre has appeared in 72 career NHL games, collecting 22 points (8-14-22).

Kero previously played for the Michigan Tech Huskies, where he appeared in 153 games and registered 111 points (55-56-111). In his senior year, he was selected as the 2014.15 WCHA Player of the Year and was named to the 2014.15 NCAA (West) First All-American Team. 

Chaput, 25, appeared in nine games with Vancouver and 55 games with Utica (17-25-42). He finished tied for second on the Comets in goals and points and first in power-play goals (9). The 6-2, 204-pound native of Ile Bizard, Quebec has appeared in 301 career AHL games and collected 198 points (77-121-198).
