Tonight’s Game: The Utica Comets battle the Syracuse Crunch in game one of the Galaxy Cup series. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

Last Game: The Utica Comets defeated the Rochester Americans by a score of 2-0. Nikolay Goldobin scored 47 seconds into the game. Reid Boucher picked up the assist. Patrick Wiercioch extended the lead to 2-0 at the 13:00 mark of the second period. Boucher and Carter Bancks tallied the assists. Demko made 33 saves to earn the shutout victory.

Head-to-Head: This is the first matchup of the year between the North Division rivals. The Crunch took last year’s season series with a record of 7-4-1 against the Comets. Utica leads the all-time series 16-11-2-3.

Scouting the Crunch: The Crunch come in after a 4-2 win over the Belleville Senators and hold a record of 1-1-1. Mitchell Stephens and Cory Conacher lead the offense with three points apiece. Michael Leighton leads the goaltenders with a record of 1-1-0, a 2.61 GAA and a 891 % save percentage

First of Many: With their shutout win last night, Comets head coach Trent Cull scored his first win as a professional head coach. In his last head coaching job, Cull compile a record of 94-88-11-11 with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League from 2010-2013.

Keeping It 100: Last night’s game marked the 100th career AHL and professional game for Ashton Sautner. The defenseman has tallied four goals and 12 assists in his young career.

Streaking: Nikolay Goldobin has been absolutely on fire since coming to Utica. Dating back to last season, the forward has tallied seven points in six games with the Comets and also carries over a five-game point streak.

Dishmaster: Reid Boucher has been an assist machine since coming to Utica. The forward has racked up back-to-back two assist games and totals five assists through three games this season. With the five assist, Boucher sits on top of the AHL in that category
