COMETS BATTLE DEVILS FOR FINAL TIME THIS SEASON

Tonight’s Game: The Utica Comets battle the Binghamton Devils for the final time this season. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

 

Last Game: The Utica Comets threw everything they had at the Syracuse Crunch down the stretch, but their comeback efforts fell short in a 4-2 final on Monday at the War Memorial. Jonah Gadjovich and Reid Boucher were the goal scorers for Utica. Zane McIntyre made 25 saves in net.

 

Head to Head: This is the eighth and final matchup between the North Division rivals this season. Utica leads the season series 4-2-1-0, but Binghamton won the most recent contest 5-1 back on December 14. The Comets are 2-0-1-0 at home against the Devils this year.

 

Scouting the Devils: Binghamton comes in with a record of 17-97-4-0 and sits in last place in the North Division. They most recently fell to the Syracuse Crunch 6-5 this past Saturday. Brett Seney leads the active roster with 32 points, followed by Joey Anderson with 31 points. Gilles Senn is the top active goaltender with a record of 7-6-2, a 3.12 goals-against average, and .888 save percentage.

 

Home Sweet Home: The Comets have been playing very well at home lately. Utica has won three in a row in home ice and four of their last five overall. Additionally, Utica has scored five or more goals in those four wins. Overall, the Comets are 13-8-1-2 at the Adionrdack Bank Center this year.

 

On A Roll: Michael DiPietro has been on a roll lately. DiPietro has won four straight games he’s played in with a 2.59 goals-against average and .912 save percentage during that stretch. Overall, the rookie netminder has a record of 13-5-1 with a 2.70 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.

 

Rack ‘Em Up: Reid Boucher continues to pile up points for Utica. Boucher is riding a four-game point streak into tonight’s game, picking up seven points (2-5-7) during that stretch with two multi-point games. The forward leads the league with 49 points (24-25-49) in 38 games this year.

 

Going Streaking: Olli Juolevi has been heating up offensively. Juolevi is riding a four-game point streak, picking up six points total in those games. The defenseman has a career-best 21 points (2-19-21) in 34 games this season.
