COMETS GO FOR PRESEASON SWEEP OF DEVILS

The Utica Comets wrap up their preseason series against the Binghamton Devils tonight at 7:05 p.m. at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

 

Last night, the Comets went 2-3 on the man advantage and scored two shorthanded goals en route to a 6-1 win over the Binghamton Devils Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. Jonah Gadjovich, Dylan Sadowy, Francis Perron, Justin Bailey, Aaron Thow, and Matt Iacopelli all found the net for Utica. Goaltenders Mikey DiPietro and Jake Kielly split the game, with DiPietro stopping nine of 10 shots and Kielly stopping all 13 shots he faced.

 

COMETS PLAYERS TO WATCH

 

Zane McIntyre – McIntyre joins the Comets after four seasons with the Providence Bruins where he was a workhorse in net. In 155 games with the Bruins, McIntyre recorded a record of 86-43-20 with a .910 save percentage, a 2.47 goals-against average, and 11 shutouts.

 

Carter Camper – The veteran forward enters his first season in Utica after spending last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Camper put up 50 points (17-33-50) in 67 games last season and has recorded at least 40 points in each of the last two seasons.

 

DEVILS PLAYERS TO WATCH

 

Marian Studenic – Studenic put up 15 goals and 28 points in 64 games in his first season in North America. Look for the forward to build on a strong season.

 

Nathan Bastian – Bastian was a Comet killer last season, scoring four goals in eight games against Utica. The forward finished the year with 24 points (18-6-24) in 58 games last year.

 

The Comets open up the regular season one week from tonight on October 5 against the Devils. Puck drop at Floyd L. Maines Veteran’s Memorial Arena is at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL TV.
