Comets Release Hanson from PTO

Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations Pat Conacher announced today that the club has released forward Greger Hanson from his professional tryout contract (PTO).

With the Comets, Hanson did not record a point in 10 games. Earlier this season, Hanson recorded four points (2-2-4) in 17 games for the San Jose Barracuda. The Lidingo, Sweden native also collected 35 points (14-21-35) in 30 games for the Allen Americans of the ECHL.  Last season Hanson earned the ECHL Playoff MVP award with 29 points (12-17-29) in 25 playoff games as he and the Americans captured the ECHL Kelly Cup. During the previous season, 2013-14, Hanson and the Americans won the CHL Championship.

In his American Hockey League career, Hanson has netted nine points and 33 penalty minutes in 41 games for the Worcester Sharks, Oklahoma City Barons, San Jose Barracuda, and the Utica Comets. In 90 career games in the ECHL, Hanson has been better than a point per game player with 98 points (43-55-98) and a plus/minus rating of +40.
