Today’s Game: The Utica Comets remain on the road against the Rochester Americans. Puck drop is at 3:05 p.m.

 

Last Game: The Utica Comets battled back from a two-goal deficit in the third period to tie the game, but a late goal from the Syracuse Crunch handed the Comets a 2-0 loss on Friday night at the War Memorial. Nikolay Goldobin and Reid Boucher scored for Utica. Mikey DiPietro made 39 saves in the loss.

 

Head-to-Head: This is the sixth contest between the Comets and Americans this season. Utica leads the season series 3-2-0-0 and won the most recent matchup 3-2 back on December 31. The Comets have outscored the Americans 17-16 through five games.

 

Scouting the Americans: Rochester comes in with a record of 28-17-2-4 and sits in second place in the North Division. They most recently beat the Syracuse Crunch 4-3 in a shootout last night. J.S. Dea leads the offense with 32 points, followed by Zach Redmond with 28 points. Andrew Hammond is the top netminder with a record of 13-11-2, a 2.59 goals-against average, and a .905 save percentage.

 

Lighting Up Rochester: Sven Baertschi has torched the Amerks throughout his career. Baertschi has seven points (2-5-7) in three games so far this season and 17 points (8-9-17) in 16 career games against Rochester. The veteran forward has 35 points (9-26-35) in 34 games this season.

 

Chasing History: Brogan Rafferty is on the verge of breaking a Comets team record. Rafferty is two points away from breaking the team record for points in a single season by a defenseman. The record of 40 points is held by Bobby Sanguinetti. The rookie defenseman has 39 points (6-33-39) in 47 games this season.  

 

Staying Hot: Reid Boucher continues to pile on points. Boucher has six points (4-2-6) in his last four games. Boucher has also collected 14 points (6-8-14) in his last 11 games. The forward has 56 points (28-28-56) in 45 games this season. 

 

Keep It 100: Nikolay Goldobin has reached a career milestone. Goldobin’s goal Friday night gave him 100 career professional goals. He has 70 career AHL goals, 11 goals in the Finnish Liiga, and 29 NHL goals. The forward has 45 points (18-27-45) in 45 games this season.
