Today’s Game: The Utica Comets wrap up their weekend set with the Laval Rocket. Puck drop is at 3 p.m.

 

Last Game: The Utica Comets struck first but fell victim to timely scoring from the Laval Rocket during a 6-4 loss on Friday night at Bell Place. Francis Perron, Lukas Jasek, Carter Camper, and Jonah Gadjovich all scored for Utica. Zane McIntyre made 26 saves in the loss.

 

Head to Head: This is only the second meeting between the two squads this season, with Laval winning the first matchup last night. Utica went 2-1-1-0 at Place Bell last year. The Comets are 10-5-1-0 all time against the Rocket.

 

Scouting the Rocket: Laval comes in with a record of 11-6-3-0 and sits in third place in the North Division. Alex Belzile and Lukas Vejdemo lead way offensively with 12 points each. Cayden Primeau is the leading netminder with a record of 7-2-1, a 2.08 goals-against average, and .926 save percentage.

 

Road Warriors: Despite last night’s loss, the Comets have played extremely well on the road this season. Utica has won two of their last three road games and have scored three or more goals in all but two game away from home this season. The Comets are 5-2-0-0 away from the Adirondack Bank Center this year.

 

Staying Hot: Francis Perron put on a show in front of his hometown crowd last night. Perron notched three points (1-2-3) to extend his point streak to four games. He’s picked up six points (2-4-6) total during his streak. The forward has 14 points (4-10-14) in 16 games this season.

 

Welcome Back: Carter Camper has played well since returning to the lineup from an injury. Camper has four points in two games since his return, including a three-point night last night. The veteran forward has eight points (2-6-8) in 10 games so far this season.

 

Power Up: The Comets power play is on fire. Utica has scored a power play goal in five straight games and six of their last seven overall, going 9-29 overall during that stretch. The Comets power play ranks 12th in the league at 18.8%.
