Comets FaceTime Check-In with Jeremy Wilmer
Aug 3, 2026Utica, NY – As the Comets’ summer FaceTime series rolls on, our next guest is forward, Jeremy Wilmer.
The Rockville Centre, NY native, is set to embark on his professional hockey career after signing a one-year AHL contract with the Comets. He has been spending the summer at home on Long Island while following a consistent regimen of three skates and four workouts per week as he prepares for the upcoming season in Utica.
Wilmer, 22, just wrapped up a four-year collegiate career after spending two years at Boston University (BU) and two years at Quinnipiac University. His best season came during his first season at Quinnipiac where, as a junior, he led the team with 41 points (15g, 26a) in 38 games. When asked about his experiences at both schools, he mentioned, “They were different. BU is in the city, and Quinnipiac has more of a suburban, traditional campus feel. I took a lot out of both experiences and am grateful to have played at two great programs.”
Wilmer will have at least one familiar face in the locker room when he arrives in Utica this fall. During the 2023-24 season, Wilmer’s second year at BU, he was teammates with Comets’ forward Shane Lachance. “He’s a great player, one of the best net-front players I’ve ever played with and a great leader as well. I have nothing but great things to say about him and am looking forward to getting things going with him in Utica,” Wilmer said.
When he’s not training, Wilmer takes full advantage of being on Long Island by spending time on the ocean, whether he’s swimming or out on a boat with friends. He also shared that he’s an avid reader and has been devouring, “The Operator”, written by former Navy SEAL Robert J. O’Neill, a book that Wilmer highly recommends, especially to those captivated by the military genre.
Aside from a potential occasional trip to New York City, Wilmer plans on staying local and is “chomping at the bit”, as he says, to get his rookie season underway.
