Andy Starczewski

General Manager, Nexus Center

Andy was born and raised in Whitesboro, NY. His playing career began at the Whitestown Rec Center at the age of 2, there he grew through the youth hockey ranks eventually landing a spot on Whitesboro’s Varsity team. During his four-year tenure with the Warriors he reached the pinnacle of the high school hockey world with a New York State Championship, won on the Adirondack Bank Center ice, in 2003. 

            After his junior year at Whitesboro, he went on prep school attending the Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY. There he played two seasons under the tutelage of Mark Morris, who had amassed an incredible 337 wins at the NCAA Division I level as a head coach. Coach Morris would go on the coach at both the AHL and NHL levels. After two successful campaigns at Northwood, Andy was listed on the 2007 NHL central scouting list. 

            After graduation, Andy would then move on to play Junior Hockey in the United States Hockey League, the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League, and the Central Junior Hockey League. His junior hockey career was highlighted with two CJHL championships with the Pembroke Lumberkings. The Lumberkings were coached by, current head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sheldon Keefe. In the 2008-09 season, Andy lead the league with 51 goals in 60 games. That season he also had 57 assists and the 107-point season earned him a league MVP award. 

             Starczewski’s playing career would culminate with a four year stint at NCAA Division I Army West Point. There he tallied 79 points (39 G, 40 A) in 133 games, leading the team in scoring both his junior and senior years. His senior campaign earned his team MVP honors and he was a nominee for the Hobey Baker award. 

            After graduation from West Point, Andy was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in US Army where he spent 7 years eventually separating at the rank of Captain. He was named to the All Armed Forces hockey team where he won a gold medal in the Baltic Military Games. Andy also deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Andy resides in his hometown, Whitesboro, with his wife Brittany and three kids; Auston, Harper, and Jeffrey Jr.
